Intelligent Home

Did you know that a house can be “intelligent”? Our multimedia technologies will let you discover what automation really means. Can you design a living space that blends into nature? You’ll figure out how to use robots to make life easier for you and to cater to your every whim. Put your feet up and watch your creations work for you!

Throughout the five days, you will design and build an intelligent living space that reacts to the surroundings and program simple sustainability-themed games. LEGO and RCX/Cricket will be used as the main medium. your creations will be available for display to be played with at the end of the course. On day one, you will design and construct innovative home devices that are used daily with LEGO. Following this, you will add mechanical motion and multimedia effects with RCX and Pico Cricket. On the third day, you will design and build a comfortable and interactive living space that minimizes the impact to the environment. The next day will bring you to our game design workshop where you will devise, program and play simple sustainability themed games. Last but not least, you will refine your devices and/or games with advanced functions.

在這短短的五日裡，你們會設計和建造一個具有智慧，能對周圍環境作出反應的生活空間，並設計一些以保育為主題的遊戲程式。LEGO，RCX和Cricket微型電腦會是主要的器材。在課程的尾聲，你的發明會被展覽和分享。課程的第一天，你會首先用LEGO來設計及構造一些新穎的家居設備。然後，利用RCX和Cricket微型電腦，為它們添加一點機械動態和多媒體效果。第三天的主要活動是設計一個舒適和互動的生活空間，並盡量降低它對環境的影響。之後你們會在遊戲設計工作室裡發明，設計再運用電腦程式來完成一些以保育為主題的遊戲。最後一天，你會有機會加以改良你新發明的設備和程式。

Pharaoh’s Tomb

News Flash! Hidden Pharaoh’s tomb discovered under the crumbling walls of the Step Pyramid at Saqqara! How do we get to the secret chamber without tripping the many traps concealed inside? Do we design a probe to investigate the conditions first? Let’s find out how to engineer machines for protecting the excavators. Which is the most suitable way of entering the tomb, a maze of tunnels and chambers?

During the five days, you will design and program a smart robot device to navigate through a complex set of maze. LEGO and RCX/Cricket will be used as the main medium and the environment (tomb) will be constructed with recycled material. On days one and two, you will design and build a maze with concealed traps that will prevent raiders from taking the treasure inside the tomb. The environment would be constructed with recycled materials. Following that, you will design, construct and program a smart robot device that can navigate through various complex set of tunnels and can avoid the hidden traps. LEGO and RCX/Cricket will be used as the main medium. On the final day, you will refine your robotic device with advanced functions.

號外！一個位於薩卡拉梯形金字塔內，深埋己久的法老王墓穴於日前被發現！究竟我們如何可以 避開重重機關，到達神秘的密室？還是我們應該先發明一個探測儀來探測裡面的情況？來嘗試建造一個可以保護發掘者們的機器吧。究竟應該用哪一種方法潛入墓穴 —一個滿佈隧道和密室的迷宮？

在這五日課程裡，你們會設計及控制一個能在複雜迷宮裡行走的智能機械人。 LEGO，RCX/CRICKET微型電腦會是主要的器材，而佈景(墓穴)則用循環再造的物料建成。在頭兩天，你會首先設計和建造一個密封的迷宮，來防止 不速之客入侵，偷走裡面的寶物。下一步是設計，建造和利用程式來控制一個可以在千絲萬縷的隧道裡行走，避過重重機關的智能機械人。 LEGO，RCX/CRICKET微型電腦會是主要的器材。最後，你們會有機會加以改良你的機械人。
