Holiday Programs School Policy

Enrollment |
|
|
• |
Parents/guardians must complete and sign the enrollment form and return with full payment by check or credit card information. |
|
|
• |
Enrollment is only confirmed when full payment is received. |
|
|
• |
In the event that the class is confirmed prior to receipt of full payment, spaces will be allocated to students who have paid in full. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Discount |
|
|
• |
A discount of 5% and 10% will be offered to each family with two or three enrollments, respectively. Discount is applicable to the total fees only if the multiple enrollments are signed up at the same time. |
|
|
• |
All two-week “Tour of Science, Too!” classes will be treated as one enrollment. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Confirmation to Students and Parents |
|
|
• |
Enrollment will be confirmed by phone, email or fax at least one week before the start of the course. |
|
|
• |
Science Workshop reserves the right to cancel any class prior to confirmation. |
|
|
• |
A full refund will be given for all courses cancelled by Science Workshop. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Cancellation Policy |
|
|
• |
If a student decides to withdraw from a class before confirmation of the class, a cancellation fee of $100 will be charged. |
|
|
• |
Refund or credit will not be given for cancellations after the class has been confirmed. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Make-up Classes |
|
|
• |
There will not be any make-up classes, refund or credit for missed classes, except due to illness (with doctor's letter) within the duration of the holiday program and subject to availability. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Holidays |
|
|
• |
No classes will be held on public holidays. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Accompaniment |
|
|
• |
Only limited waiting area is available for parents and helpers. |
|
|
• |
Under special circumstances and with prior arrangement, a parent can sit in the child's class for 10 to 15 minutes at the beginning of a class. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Food and Beverages |
|
|
• |
No food or drinks are permitted during class unless with teacher's permission. |
|
|
• |
As food is sometimes a part of the subject material, please advise Science Workshop if your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Enforced Closures |
|
|
• |
For classes cancelled due to unexpected public health warnings, i.e. swine flu, there will be no refund. Credit will be given on a pro-rata basis on classes cancelled and can be applied towards other science workshop classes.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
• |
In the event the Summer Oydessy Program commences but parents elect not to allow their children to attend, there will not be a full refund of course fees but credit will be given towards future Science Workshop classes. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
• |
Please note the definitions of “morning class” and “afternoon class” as follows: |
|
|
|
1.
|
A “morning class” is a class which commences between 9:00 am. to 1:00 pm |
|
|
|
2.
|
An “afternoon class” is a class which commences at or after 1:00 p.m. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

Please note the following class arrangement when the weather conditions are severe: |
|

|
1.
|
In force at 6:15 a.m. |
|
|
|
|
a. Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above; or |
|
|
|
|
b. Black Rainstorm. |
|
|
|

All morning classes commencing between 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will be cancelled. No refund or make-up classes will be arranged. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
2. |
In force at 12 noon |
|
|
|
|
a. Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above; or |
|
|
|
|
b. Black Rainstorm. |
|
|
|

All afternoon classes commencing at or after 1:00 p.m. will be cancelled. No refund or make-up classes will be arranged. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
3. |
In force suddenly while classes are in progress |
|
|
|
|
a. Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above; or |
|
|
|
|
b. Black Rainstorm. |
|
|
|

Classes in progress will continue until normal finish time, but parents may come to collect their child at any time as needed; classes not yet commenced will be cancelled. No refund or make-up classes will be arranged. |

|
|
|
|
|
4. |

For classes cancelled due to severe weather conditions, no refund or make-up classes will be arranged. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
7. |
Students will not be notified individually. Parents are requested to pay attention to the Hong Kong Observatory weather reports and exercise discretion in deciding whether or not to send their children to class when the weather is unstable. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Field Trips |
|
|
• |
Field trips may be held in the morning or in the afternoon during the week of the program. Most of these field trips will likely be out of the city and will take up the entire morning or afternoon. Details of the field trips will be issued to parents on the first day of the program. Please take special note of these details. We believe these field trips are very worthwhile and should not be missed. |
|
|
• |
If scheduled field trips are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, there will NOT be any make-up field trip or refund. |
|
|
|

Photographs |
|
|
• |
Photographs and videos of class activities may be taken with the permission from Science Workshop. |
|
|
• |
Photographs and videos taken by Science Workshop for its own use or for publication purposes and are the properties of Science Workshop. |
