(Sep 7 - Oct 3)

A Tree is a Habitat Too! (Life Science)

Who lives in a tree?  Every animal needs a home for warmth and shelter.  Find out why some trees are great places for various animals to live.  Investigate the basic needs of tree-residing animals and how these needs are provided for within their environment.  Prepare for some tree-mendous stuff!

5-8
(Oct 5 - Oct 31)

Earth Care (Earth Science)

What contributes to air, water and land pollution?  What is the best way to keep our environment clean?  Find out the difference between materials that can or cannot be recycled.  Let’s interact with our natural world and help preserve it.  Is that eco-friendly?

9-12
(Nov 2 - Nov 28)

What's the Matter with Matter? (Physics and Chemistry)

Did you know that matter is anything that has mass and occupies space?  Experiment with different substances to test the properties of materials.  Make “sandwich” wood, compare fiber and experiment with mass.  It’s only a matter of science!

13-15
(Nov 30 - Dec 19)

Sounds Galore (Physics)

Did you know that not only your ears can “hear” sound?  Catch sounds with your ears and your fingers.  Create your own kazoo, super listener earphones and musical instruments.  Figure out how to make strings sing.  What would sound look like if you could see it?

16-17
(Dec 21 - Jan 2)

Bear Facts (Life Science)

Did you know that there are only eight kinds of bears in the world?  Investigate a bear’s world in the wild.  How do they keep warm and take care of their young?  Don’t forget to bring your favorite teddy bear to live in our tree den!

18-20
(Jan 4 - Jan 23)

Bubble Festival (Physics and Chemistry)

How many scientists can blow into the same bubble?  Can you make a bubble look like a cube or one with straight sides?  How do you find the rainbow in a bubble?  Predict when a bubble will pop.  Investigate the appearance of things when looking through a bubble.  Come join us in this bubble-licious festivity!

21-25
(Jan 25 - Feb 27)

In the Deep, Deep Dark (Life Science)

Did you know that the ocean covers seventy-five percent of Earth?  Meet amazing creatures that have adapted to this giant saltwater habitat.  Who are they and how do they survive in the dark?  Get ready for shark attacks and have a lantern fish light your way.  Take a dive into some real depths.

26-29
(Mar 1 - Mar 27)

Mysteries of the Dinosaurs (Life and Earth Sciences)

Step into the age of dinosaurs.  What would like on Earth be like if they didn’t die out?  Find out what these extinct reptiles have in common with animals on Earth today.  Try to unlock some of the mysteries of prehistory!

30-33
(Mar 29 - Apr 24)

The Origin of Life: Eggs (Life Science)

Did you know that on average, a hen lays over 300 eggs per year?  Discover how a diversity of animals with feathers, scales and slippery skin begin their lives in these little containers.  Investigate how turtles, fish and birds lay their eggs and care for them.  From deep in the sea to underground, eggs are all around!

34-37
(Apr 26 - May 22)

Rock On (Earth Science)

Did you know that some rocks can grow on mountains under the sea?  Explore the variety of rocks and their purposes in our world.  Experience how sandstone stands up through various weathering techniques.  What’s the difference between sand, gravel, and pebbles?  Let’s rock to the groove!

38-42
(May 24 - Jun 26)

Animals 2X2 (Life Science)

Have you ever petted a guinea pig, fed a bird, or seen a snake slither?  Find out how animals move and what they like to eat.  Discover why the kind of skin animals wear determines how they protect themselves and stay warm.  Are you surprised to know that some furry animals can fly whereas some feathered ones cannot?

43-46
(Jun 28 - Jul 24)

A Hard-Hatting World (Physics)

Do you know which is stronger: beam style or arch style bridges?  Build the craziest designed bridge using only straws and paper clips.  Make “cement” shakes and marshmallow buildings.  Let’s put on our thinking hats and figure out how the design affects the strength of the bridge.

47-50
(Jul 26 - Aug 21)

Wonders of Chemistry (Chemistry)

Sharpen your brains and put on your thinking hat.  Explore mysterious mixtures, underwater explosions and appealing apples.  Bake Apple Crumble and create a secret painting for your best friend.  Discover, invent, experiment and begin a voyage of scientific fun.
