Three Science Workshop facilitators were awarded gold medals at the 2010 Girls Mathematical Olympiad competition held August 9-13 in Shijiazhuang, China. The girls, who are members of the U.S. team, solved challenging problems in Algebra, Combinatorics, Geometry and Number Theory.

The U.S. team won a total of five gold, one silver and one bronze medals in the competition. Head Coach Dr. Zuming Feng is also a Science Workshop facilitator and a teacher at Phillips Exeter Academy. He was pleased with the success his team had with the eight problems, especially the difficult Geometry section.

Science Workshop is the official co-sponsor of the U.S. Girls Mathematical Olympiad Team.

Congratulations to Dr. Zuming Feng for leading the USA International Mathematical Olympiad Team to Third Position in the World (see statistics), barely one point behind Russia, at the 2010 International Mathematical Olympiad Competition held in Astana, Kazakhstan.  One of Dr. Feng's team members, Evan O'Dorney, placed Second in the World for the Individual Results.
